Ms. Slater has authored or co-authored more than 30 articles, book chapters, online courses, and professional guidelines on applied ethics and practice management. Moreover, she has advanced the profession through numerous presentations to local, state, and national audiences, and through teaching ethics in OT educational programs. Ms. Slater is an AOTA Roster of Fellows recipient and received numerous Service Awards for volunteer leadership positions over her career. In 2002, she received the Herbert Hall Award for Outstanding Service to the Occupational Therapy Profession from the Massachusetts Association for Occupational Therapy. In 2005, she received the Distinguished Alumna Award from Columbia University in New York. Outstanding Mentor Award Gloria Frolek Clark, PhD, OTR/L, BCP, FAOTA Gloria Frolek Clark, LLC Adel, Iowa Inspirational Researcher, Clinician, Educator, and Mentor Dr. Gloria Frolek Clark has been active in education, research, and policy, but practice with children and their caregivers has been the heart of her work for more than 40 years. Within two years of graduation from the Univer- sity of North Dakota in 1977, she began working in early intervention and school practice. For 15 years, she also worked part time as a consultant for the Iowa Depart- ment of Education. In 2010, she graduated with a PhD from Iowa State University and began a private practice, providing national presentations, focused consultations to school districts, and services to children and families. Over the span of 40 years, Dr. Frolek Clark has held lead- ership and mentor roles at her work as well as state and national professional organizations, including service as an AOTA Board Director. She has authored several articles and chapters, and co-edited several books including: Best Practices for Occupational Therapy in Schools (2nd ed.) Best Practices for Documentation in Schools Best Practices for Occupational Therapy in Early Childhood and Occupational Therapy Practice Guidelines for Early Childhood: Birth–5 Years (2nd ed.). Health Advocate Award Leonard Matheson, PhD, CVE, CRC EPIC Neurorehabilitation & Psychology Services, Inc. Chico, California Work-Oriented Neurorehabilitation Pioneer, Educator, and Policy Advocate Dr. Leonard Matheson is a neurorehabilitation psychologist and inventor who has published more than 60 peer- reviewed papers and 100 invited papers and chapters in occupational rehabilitation. He was the originator of Work Hardening and Work Capacity Evaluation and authored the chapters on Functional Capacity Evaluation in the Ameri- can Medical Association’s Disability Evaluation textbooks. He continues to develop innovative methods and tools to facilitate the work of occupational therapists. He helped to establish and served as an Associate Editor of the Journal of Occupational Rehabilitation and is on the editorial board of Work: A Journal of Prevention, Assessment & Rehabili- tation. He retired after 15 years as an Associate Professor of Neurology and an Associate Professor of Occupational Therapy at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. He maintains an active consulting, psycho- therapy, and online education practice to help people who have physical, neurological, and psychological disabilities that stem from severe trauma exposure in both civilian and military activities. Emerging & Innovative Practice Award Adam Cisroe Pearson, OTD, OTR/L Peter & Paul Community Services St. Louis, Missouri Exemplary Leadership in Housing and Homeless Services Dr. Adam Cisroe Pearson is the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Peter & Paul Community Services (PPCS). He has held several social services and academic roles in his career, with the primary aims of assisting members of the community who are homeless and have disabilities, and building the research and social policy framework for assisting them. In his present role at PPCS he leads a division of more than 50 staff members and oversees all services, programs, facilities, and strategic planning for the agency. continued
