Abstract
Occupational therapy practitioners increasingly serve clients at critical times of transition as people experience planned and unplanned transitions throughout their lifespan. This comprehensive text is the first to offer an occupational therapy approach to clients’ transition needs, from the neonatal intensive care unit and school to aging and end of life.
Aligned with the Occupational Therapy Practice Framework, this work explores the various transitions people experience and the ways in which occupational therapy can facilitate better intervention outcomes as clients face changes and challenges in their lives. Chapters discuss transition-related issues, evidence, and intervention strategies, and through case examples and questions, challenge readers to promote learning and encourage best practices. This exciting new text aims to provide students and practitioners with a clear understanding of the ways in which people experience change and how occupational therapy can provide a key contribution to transition services delivery.
