Abstract
AOTA members have been thoughtfully engaging in crucial social and emotional conversations this summer regarding racial and social justice. A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion is critical for occupational therapy to meet its goal of facilitating participation in everyday living.
Social media and virtual technologies have helped foster discussions about racial disparities and otherwise helped us all stay connected as we continue to experience the effects of COVID-19. The benefits of technology are also a theme of this issue of OT Practice, with articles including the potential of virtual reality for various types of clients (p. 10) and gaming devices to improve rehabilitation interventions (p. 24).
What stories have you been sharing about your experiences with diversity and inclusion within your workplace, your community, and beyond? Join the conversation online or send us a note to let us know. We’re listening.
